Draft for review, 2026-10-14. The hosts drivematefuel.com (the app's website) and api.drivematefuel.com (the API) are placeholders until they are chosen. [ABN], [business address], [contact email] and [support URL] are the owner's details to fill in. Remove this note before publishing.

DriveMate Fuel brings together prices and places from state governments, open data projects and drivers. Every price in the app shows where it came from and how old it is. This page credits each source as its licence requires.

No price is ever behind Pro. Every price, current or past, is free for everyone, as South Australia's scheme requires for its prices and as we choose to do everywhere.

None of these organisations endorses DriveMate Fuel, and none is responsible for how we use or show its data. Brand names and logos belong to their owners.

Fuel prices

New South Wales and the ACT: NSW FuelCheck

Contains NSW FuelCheck data © State of New South Wales (NSW Fair Trading), licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence (creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0). We match the prices to stations, combine them with other sources and label them with their age.

ACT stations reach us through NSW FuelCheck. [to confirm: the licence version. Transport for NSW's Open Data Hub lists the dataset as "Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike" without a version, another publisher cites 3.0 AU, and sources.ts says 4.0.]

What share-alike means for us. CC BY-SA lets anyone use the data, including commercially, as long as they credit it and share what they make from it under the same licence. So the NSW and ACT prices as we publish them, adapted to our stations and labels, are themselves available under CC BY-SA, and the same goes for anyone who receives them through our API: whatever they publish from those prices must carry this licence too. It doesn't change who owns our other data (drivers' reports, for instance). [to confirm: legal review of where the share-alike boundary falls before the API is sold]

History. Past prices in New South Wales and the ACT, from January 2026, come from NSW Fair Trading's monthly FuelCheck price history files on data.nsw.gov.au:

Contains NSW FuelCheck price history © State of New South Wales (NSW Fair Trading), from data.nsw.gov.au, licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence. We match the prices to stations and roll them up by day.

They are share-alike in the same way as the live prices. [to confirm: the licence version; the dataset's listing says "Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike" without one, its data.gov.au mirror 3.0 Australia.]

Tasmania: FuelCheck TAS

Contains FuelCheck TAS data © State of Tasmania.

Tasmanian prices come through the same Fuel API as New South Wales's. [to confirm: the licence for the Tasmanian data; sources.ts marks it "to confirm".]

Victoria: Servo Saver

© State of Victoria accessed via the Victorian Government Service Victoria Platform. Fuel prices from Service Victoria's Servo Saver, licensed under CC BY 4.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0).

Victoria passes prices to apps like ours 24 hours after they are published, so every Victorian price is labelled with the day it comes from ("Yesterday's feed"). The licence asks that the data is published unmodified: we show each price as the feed gives it, with the feed's own name for the fuel beside ours, and its own time.

Western Australia: FuelWatch

Fuel prices from FuelWatch, Government of Western Australia.

FuelWatch publishes each day's prices the afternoon before, so we can show tomorrow's prices in Western Australia. [to confirm: the licence. The FuelWatch RSS feed says "All Rights Reserved", while the WA data catalogue lists FuelWatch data under CC BY 4.0. If CC BY 4.0 applies, the line becomes "Western Australian fuel prices are licensed by the Government of Western Australia under CC BY 4.0", the wording other apps use. We have asked FuelWatch (docs/registrations/wa-fuelwatch.md).]

History. Past prices in Western Australia, from January 2026, come from FuelWatch's historic fuel prices:

Historic fuel prices from FuelWatch, Government of Western Australia (Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety), licensed under CC BY 4.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0). We match the prices to stations and roll them up by day.

[to confirm: the department's current name for the credit; the WA data catalogue lists "FuelWatch Historic Fuel Prices" under CC BY 4.0.]

Queensland: Fuel Price Reporting

Based on or contains data provided by the State of Queensland (Department of Energy and Climate) 2026. In consideration of the State permitting use of this data you acknowledge and agree that the State gives no warranty in relation to the data (including accuracy, reliability, completeness, currency or suitability) and accepts no liability (including without limitation, liability in negligence) for any loss, damage or costs (including consequential damage) relating to any use of the data. Data must not be used for direct marketing or be used in breach of the privacy laws.

Queensland prices come from the scheme's Fuel Price Reporting Direct API, where each station's prices are fetched every five minutes and each price is shown with its source and age. The licence also requires that Queensland's data is told apart from other sources, and forbids further publication of it: you may view Queensland prices in DriveMate Fuel, but not republish them.

History. Past prices in Queensland, from January 2026, come from Queensland Treasury's open data, which is licensed differently from the live prices above:

Queensland fuel price history © State of Queensland (Queensland Treasury), "Fuel price reporting" datasets on data.qld.gov.au, licensed under CC BY 4.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0). We match the prices to stations and roll them up by day.

[to confirm: the attribution statement Queensland asks for on data.qld.gov.au.]

South Australia: Fuel Pricing Information Scheme

Based on or contains data provided by the State of South Australia (Office of Consumer and Business Services 2021-2023. Copyright of the State of South Australia

South Australian prices come from the scheme's Direct API, fetched every ten minutes and shown with their source and age. If a South Australian price is out of date, you can tell the State through its fuel pricing page for motorists (sa.gov.au/topics/driving-and-transport/fuel-pricing/fuel-pricing-information-for-motorists). South Australian prices are always free to see, as the scheme requires.

Drivers

Reported by DriveMate Fuel drivers.

Prices from drivers are labelled "A driver" and are never shown as equal to a station's own price.

Stations and chargers

OpenStreetMap

© OpenStreetMap contributors (openstreetmap.org/copyright)

Station and charger locations from OpenStreetMap are available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL 1.0). Where we combine them with other data, the combined station list is a derivative database: we keep OpenStreetMap's records attributable, and we will offer that derivative database under the ODbL when the licence requires it. Maps and screens made from it (produced works) carry the credit above. [to confirm: legal review of the ODbL boundary before the API is sold]

Open Charge Map

Charging locations from Open Charge Map contributors (openchargemap.org), licensed under CC BY 4.0, and from the data providers credited on each charger.

We use only Open Charge Map records marked as open data. Open Charge Map asks that each record's data provider and licence are shown to you: the station page names the provider for each charger that came from Open Charge Map. [to confirm: the station page shows it]

Transport for NSW

Charging locations from Transport for NSW, licensed under CC BY 4.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0).

Victoria's government-funded chargers

Charging locations © State of Victoria, licensed under CC BY 4.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0).

[to confirm: whether DataVic wants the department named (Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action). The same dataset appears on data.gov.au under CC BY 3.0 AU; we take it from Victoria's own service, which says 4.0.]

Charging networks

Live charger status, where we have it, comes from the charging network itself, under its agreement with us, and is credited as "Live status from" the network.

Suburbs

GeoNames

Suburbs worked out from station locations with GeoNames postal code data (geonames.org), licensed under CC BY 4.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0).

When a station's own sources don't say which suburb it is in, we work it out from its location: the nearest locality in GeoNames' list of Australian postcodes. A suburb found this way can be wrong near a boundary; it is replaced as soon as one of the station's sources names its suburb. GeoNames provides the data as is, without warranty.
